Triathalon - “Swells"
Lush, warm psych pop from Savannah, GA.
For fans of: Ducktails, Inner Wave, Walter TV, Wavves, Eskimeaux.
Listen to this if you’re: going for a long drive and need something chill but not too chill (don’t wanna doze off because that’s dangerous), needing a song that can be simple and complex at the same time while being mellow,
____
The person who submitted this to me (I forgot whom! It’s been a while, sorry) actually referred me to the band and I liked ‘em at first listen. If you like “Swells”, you should check out the rest of Lo-Tide because all of it is pretty SWELL :D darn awesome!

No Age - “Running From A Go-Go”
Winding noise to zone out to from Los Angeles, CA.
For fans of: Deerhunter, Japandroids, Liars (older stuff), Cloud Nothings, Black Tambourine.
Listen to this if you’re: wanting to lose yourself in an expanse of soft noise, lonely and ready to accept that maybe that’s how things will be for a while, watching a sunset or sunrise while thinking about that thing you need to think about.

Like many songs I’ve enjoyed posting, I heard this one at the right time. Long story short, sometimes coming to terms with things is scary but it’s even scarier to waste time avoiding things you just have to accept/do. It’s easier when you surround yourself with people/things that you enjoy and grow from. (Or in my case, getting the biggest, noisiest hug from this song.)
Released 2013 by Sub Pop Records.

[tl;dr] Regular posts coming soon.
My goal is to have 1-2 posts a week because I’d keep stressing myself out with wanting to do as many posts as possible. Realistically, my schedule doesn’t have the same freedom it did when I first started this blog.
If it seemed like I wasn’t posting your submissions for lame reasons, I just want to make it clear that it wasn’t anything against anyone. I royally fell behind but have kept a note of everything I’ve received so I can get on that.
I’m happy I started LOUDHAZE and I’m so psyched and thankful that people continue to follow, like/reblog posts and share music with me. It’s been over a year (and 3 months) and I’m about to hit 400 followers which is way more than I was expecting to ever have like, EVER. I appreciate getting feedback and compliments from y'all so if there’s anything at all you want to share with me, go for it!
Keep listening to awesome music bc it’s good for ya ❤ xoxo

Sealion / Big Ups / METZ
Trees – 08.13.2015

Sealion (Dallas, TX)
The original opener was supposed to be Dilly Dally but Sealion took their place. (I love Dilly Dally but I’m okay with this!) The crowd felt smaller than their usual crowd but everyone’s energy (Sealion’s included) made up for the void. Everyone in the crowd was as happy to welcome the band back as much as the band was happy to see everyone and be back home. Sealion always goes hard but this show felt extra special and awesome. #theresnoplacelikehome

Big Ups (New York City, NY)
Starting their set out loud and proud, people slowly made their way to the pit. By this set, the crowd was a little bigger and more than likely warmed up after bouncing around to Sealion’s set. Vocalist, Joe Galarraga, had awesomely unique stage presence which complimented the music well. Basically, the muttering, quieter parts were accompanied by pacing and glances towards the audience while the louder parts were full of jumping around, intense feeling and flailing and at one point, falling down on his back as the song got completely out of control. (In a good way!)

METZ (Toronto, CAN)
These dudes have their band name in all caps for a fucking reason! Every sound coming out of the speakers was pure ill chaos and the crowd followed suit by getting as rowdy as they possibly could. No words; just mosh.

Overall, it was an awesome show and definitely one of my favorite shows of this year. I’ve always wanted to see Metz and Big Ups so it was great to finally see them. Welcoming back local lovelies, Sealion, was pretty much the only thing that could’ve made this mind-blowing show better than anyone could’ve expected. Thanks Spune!

Eskimeaux / Mitski / Elvis Depressedly
Sons Of Hermann Hall – 07.09.2015

Eskimeaux (Brooklyn, NY)
Eskimeaux’s soft yet intensely profound tunes helped set the mood for the show. Lead singer, Gabrielle Smith, interacted with the crowd as if everyone in the room were a close friend. One thing I really appreciated was when Smith initially took a polite approach to quieting down the chattier people in the audience and ended with the same profound intensity that embodies Eskimeaux’s music. She started by stating that the two bands after her, Mitski and Elvis Depressedly, were awesomely talented but a little quieter, so if people were talking, they might miss some really good stuff. She ended with a firm but sweet “So shut the fuck up” and everyone immediately took note.

Mitski (Brooklyn, NY)
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHFINALLYYYYYY

Welp now that that’s out of the way, lemme try my best to use my words to describe her set. I feel when Mitski creates music, she puts a lot of herself into it, and that’s exactly what everyone got that night. Her show was raw and felt personal (choice of venue and less chatter definitely added to the ambience). Within the slow-moving crowd were small sprinkles of hardcore fans who were just so psyched to hear every single song (myself included haha). Her vocal skills were impressive and of all the acts tonight, she owned the room. (And some hearts. And some people’s hearing if you were close to the speakers and didn’t wear earplugs but it’s okay because Mitski.)

Elvis Depressedly (South Carolina)
The Elvis Depressedly set felt so full of love. Everywhere I turned, people were contently swaying alone or in someone’s arms. Everyone was enjoying themselves in their own way and the relaxed, happy energy in the room made this show one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to this year.

I pretty much always enjoy every show I go to, but a rare few leave me feeling complete. Do you know the feeling you get when you hear a song or album at the right time in your life? That’s the feeling I had throughout this show. I couldn’t imagine a better venue than the Sons of Hermann Hall. It’s an charmingly old, musty gem of a venue in Dallas that everyone should visit at least once. (If you do, I’ll bet it won’t be your last time there.)

There’s a summery quality to this song that makes it especially good to listen to in July. (Like feeling a warm breeze in a sleeveless shirt or something!) ^_^
